Focusing Our Light Outward

abstract%20light.jpgI have to say that I am very, very excited at the new series that we are embarking on here at First Covenant.  I have found that within First Covenant there lies a great light.  When people come into the church, they feel welcome, they feel loved, they feel like family.  However, they are required to come into the church.  That is not what we want!  So, over the next year we are going to look at what it looks like to be the light of Christ.

For starters, we are going to try and become a more externally-focused church.  What if we could take those amazing qualities of our congregational family and spread it out to the community?  What if we could reflect the light of Christ to other people?  I think we can do amazing things.

So, we are going to also start a ministry known as "Fifth Sunday" where on every fifth Sunday of the month (about once a quarter), we will meet for a short time of worship and then split up and go out into the community and be the light of Christ through service.  I believe this is going to be exciting and potentially life-changing not only for those people who we minister to, but to ourselves as we see what it is like to be the hands and feet of Christ.

So, hang on...
