First Covenant Church

Well, I'll be honest, I think I have probably heard sermons on the Good Samaritan story in the Bible 100 times (in fact, I once heard a travelling preacher give the same sermon twice at my church back home because I think he forgot that he had already given that pocket sermon at our church).  In fact, I believe that sometimes we hear these stories so many times that we become desensitized from learning new aspects of the story or really reflecting on the themes once more. 

I have found the same true with Bible verses that have a tendency to be used quite frequently.  For instance, I can spew out verses such as, "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future." or "For God so loved the world...Well, you can finish the rest.  However, I think when we take off our preconceived notions and try to read these verses again from a fresh perspective, we can get an enormous amount from them.

All of this to say, this Sunday Pastor Tammy will be reflecting on the Good Samaritan, and I think if we come and are willing to drop some of our previously collected baggage, I believe we can all learn more about how we can be like the Good Samaritan in our communties, loving all of our neighbors.
