Can We Be Doubters on Easter?

Doubting%20Thomas.jpgThere are many types of people in the world (I know, not exactly a profound statement, but stick with me).  Some are gregarious, fun loving, and always looking to do something new.  Others are more reserved, take their world inside of themselves, are quiet and more shy (again, I realize I'm not charting any new personality theory at this point).

However, I think we all approach Jesus differently as a result of our different personality make-ups.  Some are quite comfortable with mystery and paradox.  In fact, they would probably be discouraged by a religion in which everything could be explained and placed neatly in our mental compartments.

Others want proof, rationale, evidence that will back up what they believe.  They want to see logically that a follows b which eventually leads to c.  Yet, I believe that a relationship with Jesus is even open to the doubters.  I believe that Christ is calling these people to, "taste and see" that his love is for them, that a relationship with Christ is something proved by experience.

And we see that Christ is okay with doubt.  After he was resurrected and walking on earth once again, he allows Thomas (one of his disciples) to come and feel his scars on his hands and side, to see for himself that he was risen.  Christ is okay with doubters, but the only way to satisfy that doubt is to come and experience him for yourself.

So this Easter Sunday, come to our 9:00 service, our 10:00 breakfast, and 11:00 FREEsong and see for yourself!
