First Covenant Church is committed to supporting mission works, locally, regionally and globally in a concerted effort to establish justice, peace, and compassion throughout the world. The church has been active in sending teams to many different parts of the world. Most recently we sent a dozen men to Ecuador in February 2005 and a 10-person high school ministry team to Mexico in August 2005. First Covenant has long been a supporter of denominational and ecumenical missionaries. It is currently assisting Evangelical Covenant Church missionaries Peter and Cindy Ekstrand (Africa) and Sara and Dale Lusk (Merge Ministries). More about their work can be found on http://www.covchurch.org/mission. When crisis hits our country or another area of the world, First Covenant can contribute monies and supplies via Covenant World Relief, an organization through the denomination that has given millions of dollars for causes such as the Tsunami relief effort in December 2004 and efforts in the south to help victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita during the fall of 2005.
